Hello guys, yesterday on a group, we were talking about programs, I shouted 3ds max like my fav app, and well, one said that 3d max is a shit and blah blah, his only arguments were "Is free" and "Can do better stuff than 3d max"

What kind of opinions are these? I remember that i tried multiple times and i told to him that blender for me is really hard, but i tried again...Well...First at all, i asked to few people about how use blender, and i think that i got more doubts, and the tutorials are really pretty bad, or is me that i'm not even used to follow them...

So i started to build stuff:

After a long, i noticed that blender works like 3ds max, but everything have other name or you access at this on a really different way...

So i decided to give a try and create something that i never was able to do in 3ds max...A face

I know...KILL MEH! KILL MEH
But after all, i started to work on blender and was really funny!

Yep, that was an attempt of my face (I don't know why it looks fatty)
So, a guy took pics of himself and sent me it...Was funny, because...

He gave me excellent references!

After 6.4 hours...

------------------------------------------------------------------

So, what can i say about everything?

3Ds max, you were a really good 3d app, and i've used you by years...But blender looks a cool candidate for defeat you!

So, which is better!

I can't decide that! but...:

3ds Max:

-Easy to handle interface
-A LOT of modifiers
-Complex way to handle uv data
-Useful and neccesary stuff

Blender:

-I love the command popup when you press space
-Useful and specialized modifiers
-Really easy unwrap mapping
-An usefull paint texturing
-Easy controls (Once you get they)
-Pretty view configurations like matcap (The red glow effect)
-Uses the perfect space on the screen for work
-An excellent "Background image" option, with excellent options...

3DS Max:

-Slow when you're working with much vertex (Noticed it when i were working with 50k on blender)
-Very expensive for commercial uses
-Not too customizable like blender

Blender:

-Useless stuff like the 3d cursor (On your RMB, sorry guys, but i don't even know how use it)
-Really outdated tutorials on the wiki
-Workspace can turn really annoying
-I don't know how configure it
-Annoying tree of elements
-Theres not a "Do you want to save before exit?"
-Scale tool...I can't believe how shit it's!
-Rotate tool with Shift+E...REALLY?
-There's not a see trhough like 3ds max

------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't say which is better, but i will prepare to continue working with blender and get luck with GIMP, i hope upload models in the future with blender! (Not for source but well...It's something)

I don't know if anyone has told you yet, but there is a rotate with the 'R' key and 'Z' is for Wireframe. One thing I hate about blender is that when you are in texture mode, if you got into wireframe using the 'Z' key, and you exit wireframe pressing the same key, it puts you back into solid instead of texture.
